The Final Stretch of an Iconic Transformation

Posted on August 5, 2025 by admin.

On July 28, 2025, the newest phases of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum opened to the public, marking another major milestone in the museum’s sweeping transformation. The final galleries and reimagined spaces are set to debut on July 1, 2026—coinciding with the Museum’s 50th anniversary on the National Mall and the United States’ 250th anniversary.

Candela Controls, Inc. has been honored to contribute to this once-in-a-generation effort from its earliest stages in 2018. Our team proudly engineered and delivered the facility’s lighting controls, exhibit lighting, and on-site programming support throughout this monumental restoration.

As one of the world’s most visited museums, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum continues to inspire millions. Knowing our work will illuminate their experience for years to come fills us with immense pride.
